Are Angels For Real?

There has been a long-standing debate about the credibility of believing in heavenly angels. Are they 'for real' or just a product of our imagination and spirituality? What’s the real deal?

We think of angels as messengers from God, whether it is good or bad news. Angels are not only found in Christian and Jewish faith. They are also depicted in Islam and even in Mormon theology. Evidence of the belief in heavenly angels can be traced back as early as the Assyrian and Mesopotamian civilizations.

Traces of belief in angels were also identified in ancient Greece and in Persia. Angels would have different names in various religions and cultures; for Vikings they were the Valkyries, Hindus call them Apsaras, and in Africa they were called Orisha.

In the Christian religion, heavenly angels are depicted to be spirits who are on earth to protect humans from danger and temptations. As protectors, angels were often referred to as guardian angels. Every human being is believed to have their own special guardian angel. This Christian belief started in the fifth century.

Angels have served as inspiration for different artists using different art forms. They are often depicted with joy, beauty, and peace. Their purpose for being with humans is primarily believed to be to redeem, uplift faith, and foster trust. Many people have testified to heavenly angels helping them out when dealing with pain and guilt or of saving them from dangerous situations.

Heavenly angels are often visualized to be in human form, but with wings. Especially in the Bible, angels are usually depicted as adults with wings.

People have often testified that a sweet smell of flowers accompanied them along with the sounds of bells, chimes, and trumpets.

People who have testified to angelic presences claim to have seen light around the figures and the feeling of intense good emotions like love, warmth, peacefulness, and profound well-being.

In many art forms, heavenly angels have appeared as cute, chubby babies with wings or the spirits of dead relatives and friends.

Angels do not always appear like this, according to some testimonials, because of the brightness that surrounds them. You could also see glimpses of the face, arms, or legs. Actually, in the Bible, the heavenly angels in Jesus' tomb were described as two men. During the annunciation of Mary, the angels were also human beings without wings.

Not all of angels are good, there are fallen angels which people believed to be demons. This thought would come from the Hebrew text where it is mentioned that there were angels cast out of heaven and about one-third of the angels went down to Earth.

For some, heavenly angels are simply believed to be conjured by the imagination. Some would believe that we turn to the idea of these supernatural beings to explain the things that are difficult to understand.

Nowadays, angels are sometimes described to be ordinary people who perform extraordinary feats and random acts of kindness for others. There are a lot of people testifying to mysterious strangers who have helped them in a time of need, only to disappear suddenly after wards.

This long, ongoing debate about the existence of heavenly angels is not going to be resolved any time soon. The world and our life in it are simply wonderful and mysterious, and the possibilities are endless.

Nonetheless, everybody seems to agree on one point... we need more heavenly angels, whether they are divine spiritual visitors or they live among us as fellow human beings.
